A very useful engine

I was cleaning out my kids closet today. You know putting away the stuff they have grown out of, sorting through the new stuff, and organizing socks. Then I came across this shirt. This shirt is a special part of my boys life. He started wearing it when it was too big and continued wearing it until it was too small. He hasn't worn it for a little while, and I have been putting off putting it away. When I did, I cried. I think I'm officially more attached to this shirt now. It represents so much of his little life. He still loves Thomas, but not the way he used to. Growing up is good, but oh so sad too. I will put it in his special box of stuff that way I will always have this little shirt to remember that awesome time.

One sick little nugget

This little girl has been sick for days! Poor thing got hit by a double ear infection and a tooth all at the same time. All we have done is read books (the same three ones over and over), cuddle (the best part of a sick baby) and hold (not the best part of a sick baby). We are going on a week and we all hope this will be over soon! Even thought the shoulders of my shirts are covered in snot, I'm loving the bonding we've had this week.

Christmas 2010

I took too many pictures! Our Christmas was a blast! He made the trip to Utah- and Utah did not disappoint. The day after we got there mother nature gifted us about 8 inches of snow. Evan was in Heaven! We did a little bit of everything. Sledding, lights at Temple Square, Ice Skating, snowball fights, all the quintessential cold Christmas activities. Then we topped our trip off in Midway with my family and grandparents. It was fun to have all the grandkids together for Christmas morning. Evan's favorite gift was his Cars racetrack. Kate's favorite gift was also the Cars racetrack much to Evan's dismay! All in all, it was a very merry Christmas!

Snow Day 2010

We attended yet another snow day in sunny San Diego. Evan had a blast! Bounce houses, train rides, sledding, what's not to like? Our next door neighbor and pretty much best friend Max met us at the park and fun followed. I finally caught a picture of these two standing still together! They usually just chase each other around, ride bikes and scooters, and play trains. Kate had had a fun day too. She wants to be big so bad! She still isn't walking, but that is just fine by me. She may not be walking, but that doesn't mean she sits still! She is getting so big, so quick. We are definitely looking forward to Christmas in Utah this year-what a great warm up!

Evan's School Christmas Program

Evan's school performed at the community Christmas party today. Everyone except Evan that is. He spent the performance hiding behind the tree with Paul. Oh well, at least we tried!

My little artist

Evan has been really into art lately. He loves to color, paint and draw. Thank you to pre-school for helping me out in this department. I think his stuff is pretty good. I know it's 3 year old art, but truth is- it's not much worse than mine! He loves it so much that on his Thanksgiving paper when he lists the things he's grateful for he put "chalk" meaning sidewalk chalk. Pretty cute. When his teacher and I were talking about how much he loves this stuff I mentioned that I was excited that he loved it because neither Paul nor I are very artistic. She then mentioned that you don't have to be good at it to love it. True statement. I'll just sit back and let him love it.

Halloween 2010

Halloween 2010 was a fun and exciting night. It has been fun to see Evan get into the Halloween spirit this year. Last year we couldn't get him to put on a costume and this year, he was telling us what he wanted to be and could not wait to get into it!
We went to the trunk or treat at our church, had some dinner and went trunk or treating to cars that were set up in the parking lot. Evan loved it! Kate did not. Have you ever seen such a sad little cow? She was teething and had to be woke up in order to go. I think she would have gladly missed the festivities in order to sleep. We put her out of her misery and took her home early to bed and Paul stayed with Evan to finish up the night. Nothing like your kids doing all of the work, and you eating their snickers after they go to bed! It was a happy halloween indeed!
