Train Ride

This week has been super exciting! We went on the train (the coaster) from downtown to Solana Beach. Evan was beyond excited, but you can't tell from the pictures. He's funny, his excitement about being on a train is reserved. He's super excited but he just geeks out about it. It was so fun watching him take it all in. Checking out the trains, looking out the window, watching for the conductor, and exploring the cabin. Kate just liked standing up and trying to keep her balance. When we got to Solana beach we went to the park and then headed to dinner at the Pizza Port. It was a great little mid-week trip. Thanks to the Traina's for planning it! Thanks to your kids for making it even more fun for my kids!

March

Where oh where did March go? March was a crazy busy month for this little family. We had birthdays, family and more family to visit. We have been swamped with rain and cold weather- but I'm not complaining, I love the change of weather. Plus, it will only make us more grateful when the sunny weather returns! This month ended with a visit to Arizona to meet our newest cousin Van. He is the pretties boy I've ever seen! We also saw Mac (his brother), not to mention to cousins on the other side of the family. It was good to see the babies, but a less than stellar trip due to my own kids being sick! We (or I should say I) were glad to come home. On to April- hopefully exciting, but a little less so.

Jeep

Paul found this little gem at a garage sale- and it has been making my kids happy ever since. Evan and Kate both LOVE it. When Evan isn't around to drive it, Kate can be found trying to take it for a spin. Probably the best part is how happy they both are to be in it. It has been the one toy they can both agree on. Evan just smiles while driving it, and Kate just smiles while riding alongside him. If only she knew the risk she was taking! Today Evan was riding his scooter behind it while his friend Max drove! I'm afraid this is only the beginning of the anxiety of being a boys mom. Good find dad!

The nugget

I've had so many posts about Evan lately- it feels as though we've forgotten all about Kate. I love this little girl. She has been getting a molar and it has greatly affected her normally pleasant mood. In someways for the better- she loves to cuddle when sick and that is about it. In fact the other night she actually fell asleep in my arms! It has been quite a while since she has done that and it melted my heart. She is super busy. She loves watching Evan and gasps when she gets her way. I love it. She is rounding the 18 month corner and finding her voice. She lets you know exactly what she thinks about things. She really makes our house more fun. On a side note- when did I start looking like my mother?

Nieces Rule!

Thank you to my nieces Haley and Hannah for their willing participation in my photo homework. The worked it! It was sooooo.... nice to not have moving targets! They took me learning to use the reflectors and figuring out the right composition very well. If anyone needs any models- I've got they come highly recommended. I'm taking a photo course and lets just say I am WAY behind my fellow participants. I'm so embarrassed to post every week- everyone's else's work is AMAZING! Oh well- I guess I just have to catch up!

Birthday Pics

Evan had a great birthday! We had a great family birthday party. I think he was hoping it would be a big birthday party like last year, but alas- it was just his nearest and dearest. Dad got up and made him his favorite breakfast- french toast. Then he got to open his presents- we didn't bother waiting for cake. He got a new bike, a battery operated Thomas and some new Thomas lego sets. Just what he wanted and more! He kept asking "is this my birthday party?". Who needs a big party when you can party all day with your fam? Then we went to Boomers and let him go wild. He LOVED the go karts. We played games and took advantage of all the rides he could ride on. It was a super fun day. When it was all over- we all crashed. Thanks Evan for the great day!

Four

Guess who's four? I love these pics because they are SOOOO him right now. He is all boy. He still loves his trains, riding bikes, scooters, plasma cars and running with wild abandon. He has turned the corner on 3 (thank goodness) and is now a total 4 year old. He loves talking about poop, singing about poop, telling stories about poop and sometimes he changes it up to talk about pee. Sounds a little something like this "Old McDonald had a poop." Disgusting. I love that he gets jokes now. I love that he tries to tell them. He's totally figured out teasing and is trying to perfect his own version of it. His relationship with his sister has been changing too. Now that she's a little more fun he really likes her. He's still won't share trains with her, but he's willing to compromise on a few other things. He still sings songs about me. My favorite one goes like this "my mom, my mom, my mom is really cool". He gets away with a lot following that song. He loves Paul. As he gets older and wants to do bigger boy stuff I see their bond growing. Something I love and something I hate. I like being number one! He the best at snuggles, and gives a pretty mean hug. I love this sweet boy. Happy birthday Evan!
